For Girls Outside yesterday, we were really lucky. It was a warm day and the wood frogs had just migrated to the vernal pool at Wadsworth Mansion.
It was so cool to watch the 14 girls in the program all get really excited about the frogs.
Hundreds of male wood frogs floated on the surface of the pool quacking like ducks.
Each bump/disturbances you see on the top of the water is a wood frog.
You can hear the racket they are making when you listen to the videos.
One little girl was incredibly patient and finally caught a frog with her hands. Play the video below and you can hear it quacking while she is holding it.
If you keep your eyes and ears open, it is amazing what you can discover!
Share what you notice with a family member, friend or neighbor.
The Girls Outside program is funded in part through a grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County's Sari Rosenbaum Fund for Women and Girls.
